I think it is a male, by the larger anal fin. That's all I know on sexing bichirs at all.

That's a Senegal Bichir by the way...Dino Bichir is a very generic name given to them.

Yup yup, ran into that problem on another one your(allsmiles) threads i think. Dinosaur bichir encompasses a few species

Thats a birchir alright...

Myself have got 2 of them, can be quite predatorial on weaker fish, and are quite carnivorous. Mine loves chopped earthworm, and catfish pellets.

Will slum it and eat flakes, but usually only feeds on the odd one or two as hell really go to town when I deposit worm in the tank.

Cant stress enough though about the predatorial instinct on these bad boys.

Incedentally, how do you sex these??

Well Demjor had a link up above that shows how to sex them. The easiest way to tell between a male and a female is the male has a larger and rounder anal fin.

hellow i know that this is un related but i woke up and found my birchir belly up but still alive and it looks like he is trying to right him self but cant and also he has blood running through his sckales and there is a lot on his finns on his back please help!!!
