View Full Version : I was bad today...

I already have a pink VT male, but a few days ago when I was at the pet store I noticed they had yellow ones. I love yellow VT's, so I went back today to get one. I spent about 15 minutes studying their 4 yellow ones, trying to decide which one to get.

And while studying them, I sorta fell in love with a dark blue one. Dark blue body, lighter blue fins and red on his front fins (whatever they are called again), and he was a lot smaller than all the others. I somehow managed to justify getting two fighters, instead of just the one I went out to get...

I've just finished acclimatising them, and will try to get photos later. The lights are out in their tanks, so might have to wait till tomorrow.

But they are so pretty:)

Congrats!! Yellow bettas are my favorite, but I dont' currently have any. I used to have a yellow CT with blue eyes, I had to move all my fish to my sister's house for a while when we moved and when I went to pick him up he was dead. Had I been an hour earlier he might have still been alive :( The yellow ones are so hard to find around here!

Can't wait for pics!

Oh yellow, Thats got to be beautiful!
If I ever find one I'll sure bring it home too.

I have an orange male betta, he's super big tho, Was afraid he was old when I got him, and I think he is, Looks like he might be headed out on me :( Bummer

But yellow sound wonderful I'm gonna keep my eyes open for another orange one and a yellow!

I love orange bettas:) I'm hoping to get an orange CT female in the near future. Yellows are recessive, and I assume orange would be too, so it would be interesting to see what yellow crossed with orange would produce:)

Fighters are funny:) The pink and yellow ones are in tanks which sit next to each other, so they could see each other last night, and this morning they'd both built huge bubble nests to show each other who's more manly:)

I've put something between the tanks now so they can't see each other anymore.

Anyway, here are som photos of the yellow one. Haven't been able to get a photo of the blue one, because the filter in his tank was too strong and he was hiding in a corner, so I moved him to a bucket where he will stay until I've modified the filter in his tank.

Yellow and orange are rare, because the gene is recessive, meaning the fish must carry two of them (one from each parent) to be yellow or orange. And it can only be crossed with other yellow or orange fish to produce the same coloured offspring, crossing them with any other colour would mean they will be the colour of the other fish, but carry the gene for yellow or orange.

So I'm hoping to find a yellow or orange CT female and breed them:)

These little guys are so addictive. I myself have six of them and always have to look whenever I go to the LFS or PetCo. I finally found a yellow one, although not nearly as stunning as yours.

Haha, yeah I always look at the bettas too:) Would love to see a photo of your yellow one:)

My guy is not a big fan of the camera, he's my only one really who doesn't like it. I can whip the camera out and he'll go hide behind a plant or just dart away whenever I get a good shot about to take.

Finally got some decent photos of the other one I bought:)

This one is quite small, so I bought a tiny female for him to see if I can breed some miniature bettas:)

He has pretty flowing fins. And I like his little curl on his top fin. =] so cute.

Edit, just noticed there are 2 bettas lol. I was talking about the first one but the 2nd is beautiful as well.
