Is it bad for fish if it is too noisy, I have my Hi Fi speakers next to my tank and was wondering if it did them any harm.

I have a fry tank next to my computer and the speakers and it can get kind loud so I was wondering the same thing. I'll do some research and see what I can find.

it think if its too loud, the water will vibrate and effect the fish. when ever i knock my tank by accident, the fish swim faster franctly. ive read on several occations that its not good to place your tank next to loud sounds.

someone else asked that on my old forum.

yes, music does harm them. The vibrations tick them off and they get stressed.
If youre having a party and cant help the noise, put a blanket ov3r the tank so your fish will sleep

Yes, it does stress them out leaving them more suseptable to disease.

I just close the lid a bit too loud and mine stress out and hide.

my three tanks seem ok, we have 4 very boisterous loud children in our house, tv ends up being turned up quite loud and our fish seem fine with that

im overprotective of my tanks. Im usually home alone, and i used to say with my 33g " the dogs cant go in there, theyll bark and claw and piss off the fish", and now all the tanks in the basement, safe from everything. I tried REALLY loud music by my fish once though with tons of bass, and my pet feeder goldfish loved it

I think the fish may be more susceptible to lower, bass noises that rattle stuff, or loud banging like that of footsteps pounding on the ground or the closing of a tank lid. I doubt higher pitch sounds can affect them unless they are really loud. Remember that sounds carries REALLY well in water.

I have never had a problem with them as they are in my bedroom so the speakers are rarely turned up loud, but I don't want to harm them, I've stopped my mum from using any chemicals when she cleans near the tank so I don't want anything that I do to harm them.

Thanks for the responses as well guys.
