Hi,
I just bought some angelfishes not too long ago today.
And, when I introduced them into my tank... my oto cat started to chase one of the angels, and so did my male dwarf gourami.
All my other fishes didn't. Not even the big angel.
So, what can I do about it?
I contacted the big fish store about this problem, and they told me that the oto cats SHOULD leave it alone in a few min to an hr.
Will that work?
I don't want to put them in my bigger tanks because they are filled with even bigger angels.
So I'm afraid that the bigger angels might want to kill the smaller angels. Also, I don't know if I should be giving away the male dwarf gourami because he is very aggressive to my fishes and I really can't do anything about it no matter what I do.
I even put it in with my bigger fishes, he almost died :(
I'm in a sticky situation here :(

Yeah, because my angel just stopped picking on them for now... there has been some ripped fins, but I am trying to get rid of the stress first by putting in some aqua plus, and melafix for the fins.
And aquarium salt too :)
Is that okay? since it does treat stuff like that, and helps build back up the slime..

Yes you are doing everything as your should, when you put a new fish in your tank hes not the only oen scared of a new enviroment, the others are talso scared of a new guy arround and they dont really know what its intentions are, fish are almost constantly in the look for predators no matter how long they live in a tank (actually what most fish know as a predator is your net).
When you put a new fish in your tank pay atention to him and the others for a while but dont get too anxious if the welcome is not warm, specially from very nervous (like cats) or territorial fish.
"Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea"

Wow thanks :)
I have a breeding net that I bought a long time ago... and I don't know if it will work to keep one angel in.
The net is ment for small baby fishes ie guppies, and baby gouramis.
But would that be good?

Also, the reason why I brought new angels is because I wanted them to grow up and hopefully there are males and females so then I could get them to mate and have some babies as a second generation in my tank :)
I have a lot of swords, and I heard that they are mainly what angels would use to lay their eggs or rest on.

No, do not put your angel in that breeding box. That would be very unfair to him. I believe the fish will all get used to one another in a day or two but if that gourami continues to be aggressive, threw him in the tank with the big angels.

Yes, let the aquarium take it's own course if the agrssion already stopped you may have a couple of small agression episodes for the next week but no catastrophe will come from it, remember angels and still cichlids and they can defend themselves.

Alright thanks for your help :)
Will it be okay if I put the gourami in with my new puffer fishes in my small 10 gallon tank?
I only have the smalle dwarf puffers. The are only 2" each.

I know very little about puffers other than some like brackish water. They are also nippy little critters but I don't "think" the dwarf puffers are as bad. All you can do is try them together.

Yes.
Although they were supposed to eat the feeder guppies I put in. The people who raised the puffers do that for the puffers.
Although I have to feed mine shrimp and snails.
They scared the scales out of my silver dollars a long time ago when I tried to put them in with the puffers.
