I have an opportunity to buy these tanks for $150.00. Are they worth it? Can you estimate the sizes? I know the filters and such are not what I need. After many years I am thinking of setting up another SW tank. Thanks for your opinion.

It looks like four 10 gallon tanks and a 55 to 75 gallon tank. All the 10 gallon tanks look like the have some type of AquaClear HOB, which wouldn't be bad for FW tanks. To me, that would only be worth it if that is a 75g.

looks like four 5-8gallons and a 40-50 gallon tank. Its 36" wide whatever it is. I'm judging by the door, and the doorknob for scale
edit: I think its 36" 18", what tanks have that footprint?
here you go:
30 Breeder 36 3/16 x 18 1/4 x 12 15/16
40 Breeder 36 3/16 x 18 1/4 x 16 15/16
50 Gallon 36 7/8 x 19 x 19 5/8
65 Gallon 36 7/8 x 19 x 24 5/8
i think its one of the bigger two

Looks like a pretty good deal to me. Even if that was a 55g instead of a 75g, you'd still save money if you got it.

3' or 4' or whatever, its not a bad deal.

Thanks for the help. I'm thinking it's a 75 but either way I'll have a tank to start with. I'm trading the guy for a few tools that I never used and got for free anyways. He's supposed to drain them today and DELIVER (50 miles) on monday. Yep, I got him to do that so I guess he needs the tools. I figure I can unload the unwanted items on Craigslist for a few bucks as well.

That light fixture will need an upgrade for your SW setup.

yeah, upgrade the lights only if you want corals, 40w of fluorescent lighting wont get you far

Well, they are here. I have a bunch of stuff I don't need but the tank is 75 gallons. Two 48" lights, one single tube and one twin tube. A couple of actinic bulbs. The tank is two years old. I'll post a couple of more pics today.

A metal stand came with it but I plan to build something out of oak with a canopy. Like I said, I have a bunch of stuff to get rid of though. I have SIX HOB's, four 10 gallon tanks, three 50 watt and one 100 watt heaters. One of the HOB's has a built-in 200 watt heater. I've got a c 02 reactor and an air pump as well. I'll try to sell what I don't need. The tank was built in 2007. Can anyone tell me how to post my pics? Keep getting the "file too big" error.

Wow! That's a great deal - and to have it delivered too!!! Definitely worth your money, I do believe!!!
You'll need to resize the pic. Use a picture editing software to make it smaller, then try again.

Good job with the pictures! :)
Wow! You have a ton of those AC filters!! :18: :18: If you don't keep them, you'll be able to get a good penny for all of that! Congrats on the buy. thumbs2: thumbs2:

They look to be the AC20 ones - Rated for up to 20g.

Man, the equipment alone is worth what you paid...very nice find!
That big AC would make a nice HOB fuge if you decide to go SW with your tank

I have 3 AC 20's, 1 AC 30, and a larger one that looks to be a AC70? I can't tell because the lid is missing. I can get one for about six bucks though. The largest HOB has the built-in 200 watt heater, a Tetratec pf300.
Which one were you saying would be good for a fuge? I'd like to build a sump and perhaps drill the tank before setting it up so I can add one later on.
Here's another pic. I have four of these so anything that I can't use for my SW setup (FOWL) has to go.

I'd keep one of the 10g as a QT if you weren't already planning on that. And I would use the large AC as a HOB fuge. Here's a link that shows how. ([Only Registered Users Can See Links.])

Thanks, I found that link after my last post. Keeping a tank for QT is a good idea. What kind of filtration should I plan for that? Lighting?
