Ponds are just giant aquariums right?

Hi,
I am mostly a pond person, but I do have plenty of large aquarium experience. I have a 5000 gallon pond with 900 gallon biofilter with numerous koi and fancy goldfish, I have two 25 gallon aquariums with baby koi and plecos, I am looking to build an indoor stream/aquarium in the next two years. Thanks for letting me swim around here.

I say build a small pond in your house and connect it with the outside one. That way, fish could swim up to your living room for a snack ;)

Ive seen people buy acrylic tanks and connect them with tubes after a hole is drilled to connect the tanks

Thanks for the welcome. I AM thinking along the lines of an indoor pond, similar to the freshwater display at Monterey bay Aquarium, with a small waterfall that you can lean over but has glass to about waist high. The connection to the outside idea is a great idea except when it gets too cold or the water quality shifts to green.
