Will angel fish eat guppy fry?
I'm getting over run with mollies and I have an extra tank an angel would be happy in.
Before I get one, I'd like to know if they eat newborn/young tiny guppy/molly fry as food?
obviously I know little about angelfish... I'm still researching.
I like my big mollys in my other tank but I cant deal with the 100s of babies they continually poop out.
I was thinking they would be good feeders for a small predatory fish.
Would an angelfish fit the bill?

Well, I'm no expert. From what I know and my experience angelfish are cichlids, they will eat whatever they can, at least mine used too. I'm going to assume that includes cute wiggly little fry. I used to feed my angels tubies and bloodworms, so my best guess is yeah, they'll probably go for anything that can fit in their mouths. Which thankfully in the case of angels aren't too large.
I would say that molly fry would be good feeders for other fish. Especially since you have bred them yourself so you know they are disease free. That is assuming that the parents were free of disease of course...
It sounds like a great source of free food to me. I could be wrong and maybe someone will correct me, but I have a ghost shrimp tank I use for food in a similar manner, they breed so insanely fast I have no choice but to feed a few skrimps to my GT's weekly as a supplement.
Yes i said skrimps, not shrimp. :hmm3grin2orange:

I have seen warnings in several places (books and online) stating you shouldn't keep angels and neons in the same tank, since the angels will eat the neons. So if they see neons as food, molly/guppy fry are certainly on the menu!
