I have a beautiful peacock eel in my 29 gallon and I'm going to vaccuum the tank today or tomorrow. My question is, should I try and find him so he doesn't get sucked up the vaccuum, or should I just take my chances.
Also on another question, I've never seen the guy eat. When I bought him they said that they will only eat bloodworms, which I have in these little gum drops. Is there any way to maybe put some of the bloodworms in front of him without using my hand? He's very skittish, bolts when I try and put food in front of his face with my hand.
Thanks,
KU

Well, if it would be me, I would try to locate him because I can tend to be a little rough when I'm siphoning. I'd hate to come chopping down on his tail or head and hurt him. I'd check under decorations first then go from there.
As for feeding, do you think it's possible he's been eating but you just haven't seen him do it?
Those eels are so cool, aren't they? One day I might be able to get over my fear of snakes enough to keep an eel.

i loved my fire eel. I just SLOWLY vacuum, and slowly move the siphon down so i dont kill my eels

I just SLOWLY submerge the siphon, so whatever the is under the gravel can run out.
It takes out more water and takes more time, but in the end its worth it

He's definitely my favorite guy in the tank. I've got a spiney eel in with the peacock eel, and he is more friendly and I usually see him eat every couple of days and I know where he is most of the time. They definitely are a cool fish to have.
As far as cleaning, I'll just find them before I clean, which will be fun because I'll have to take all my driftwood out of the tank, yay!
