Saw a listing on Craigslist for a 90g with cabinet and hood for $250. I think it is too good to pass up. What do you guys think!!:11:

Quick question;
Can you guys recommend a good canister filter for this 90g. I am using HOB Emperor 280 & 400's on my other tanks but I think it is time to invest in a quality canister filter for this tank considering the cabinet hood and all.

you better grab that as fast as you can...... i know others have their preferences but i love my rena xp3, you could get the xp4 too.. i would still use something like an emp, 400 just for extra filtering if you can fit it in the hood
oh yeah and get rid of those cheesy decorations

A fluval 405 would be what I'd suggest.

the 405 is a nice filter, but so is the FX5(though much more expensive) The 405 is rated for tanks larger than 100gal and the FX5 goes further than that. I'm not very versed in the ultra high end stuff, but from my casual observation, the FX5 has no equal, even in the eheim pro line. That's a good deal, be sure to check the seals and congrats!

Bwahahhaaa.... When I inquired about the setup she told me "tank and cabinet/hood is 250 but the decorations would cost extra" :hmm3grin2orange: I said no thanks, not interested in the decor, I'll just take the tank and cab/hood
Also I am watching this...

As far as filtration....I would go with either two Fluval 405's or an FX5.

You should bid on the fx5 that the place you're wanting to get the xp4 from. Right now its a 6hrs to go and still at $159.99+20.00 shipping, which is steal. If you can get it for no more than $200(not including shipping), you will be getting a great deal.

Nope it was pretty funny actually... On my car forum that ive been on for a fews years it gets pretty crazy. We even have a sub forum called 'The Abyss, Where Bad Threads go to Die" you have to be a site supporter to view it. Ya know the automotive crowd can be a rowdy bunch.. pretty chills over here actually.
Back on topic, I am picking up the tank tomorrow afternoon. I am planning on staining the cabinetry a kinda mahogony color to match my existing furniture.. Ill post pics of the progress..
*sig updated.. can you tell I am excited!?!?!

Nice stand and canopy! They are built like a tank. How do I know this? Because I have the same one but with 75 gallon tank. I picked it up for $100 bucks from an estate sale.
I ended up making a new canopy because (keep an eye on yours as well) The urethane on the underside of the canopy tends to wear off. Mine was almost raw wood underneath. Eventually the boards cupped pretty bad. But I loved the way it looked so I made another one!!
Heres mine.

BTW, would you happen to know who manufacturers these stands? Mine has no markings or tags and was interested in purchasing another.
I would grab the tank asap.

I don't think anyone would say its not a good deal! Beautiful looking tank!!! I even like the decor...LOL

Hey Erik, Im glad you can attest to the quality of the stand.
As for manufacturer, I didnt see anything on the stand itself but I did notice a green seal on the canopy. I will let you know what it reads when I get home tonight.

Erik this is the sticker that is on the hood. In red it says All Glass Aquarium. Franklin, Wisconsin 53132

Also I finished staining the hood today.. damn my arm hurts, soooo much sanding but it was well worth it.. Tomorrow I tackle the cabinet itself.. :help:

A little update, finshed staining and clearing the stand/canopy. Dropped about 80 lbs of Tahitian Moon Sand. Going to add another 75 lbs of rock to the 25 that is already in there.

Very nice job!:19:
I love the color! It gives it an older look.
What did you use to strip it down? That didn't take you long!
What kind of finish did you use?
Where are those big plastic fish gone??????:hmm3grin2orange:

Thanks for the compliments..
Used an electric sander to strip is down. Then hit it with two coats of Minwax wood stain (red mahogany 225). Lightly sanded it again in between two coats of Satin Clear Polyurethane.
