hi i recently heard a guy say he had an aliminium bottle in his tank, i then asked him about it and he said it was fine for ages and a juice can should be fine. I'm just still a litte wary about this and wondered what your thoughts were? i would silicone all the sharp edges is it just the paint on the can that could be the issue or actual aliminium? i'll put a bottle in if i cant with a can it's just so it looks like the rivers where i live haha.

The ink on the cans are non toxic as far as I know. The alluminum itself is coated to prevent oxidation or corrosion. If the can did not have this coating, the soda itself would corrode the can in no time.

Osomxl is very right. The cans will be safe. I used to do chemistry demonstrations with Al cans reacting with acid but the coke cans are so well coated that it took DAYS of preparation before we could actually use them. A can or two will not have any adverse effects in you tank.

I got my first tank when I was in college and the only pets I could have in the dorm room were fish-max size 10 gallons. I put Giant Danios in the tank. I went with the college theme and use blue and white rock for substrate, then took a Keystone Light can, drank the Boozethumbs2: (washed can) filled with gravel and put a plant in the can. My personal opinion looked really cool, and no adverse effects on any fish

It would make a good idea for an exhibit.
