Transporting fish

When transporting fish what is the best way? Like from the house to the store. No I did not write it backwards.

Go to the aquarium store and get the bags they give you to transport fish in.

Add water (aged or from your tank), aerate the crap out of it before putting the fish in. After you've transfered the fish, inflate the bag by blowing into it and seal it tightly. Then get to the LFS ASAP.

If you've got an elderly person with breathing problems around, inflate the bag with his oxygen canister, it's better. But ask first!:wink2:

Also whats so diffrent from a Ziplock bag and the stores bags?

store bags are taller and you have to use an elastic. Ziplocs are only good if you have a passenger to hold the bag as it way explode of not held tightly. Buy some bags from your lfs and elastic em

Also, put them in a brown paper bag. The lack of light and awareness of their surroundings seems to have a calming effect.

Frabil makes a transportation unit called the frabil minn-O2. It is a styrafoam box with a built in air stone/air pump, that plugs into your ciggarette lighter in your car. Its made for transfering bait, but its the same concept, right?

Yeah, it was used to transport a piranha in this thread. Note that the unit does NOT prevent law enforcement officers from catching you with an illegal fish ;)
