I introduced 2 small octinoculus algae eaters to my tank that before was home to only 2 ADF's about 3 days ago. Both frogs have been hiding a lot more than usual, and one does everything he can to stay away from them. I put food into their food dish today and neither has really shown any interest in it at all when usually it is gone rather quickly. Is it normal for the species to need a "breaking in" period, or is there something that I could do to help their transition?

They should get used to them after a while. They should start acting normal again as they realize that the otos aren't a threat. I've had adf's with platies, female bettas, and darters without issues.
