My tank is still in the cycling stage right now, but as soon as it's done i would like to get a pleco. I know there are so many different types, and I need help. I have a 20 gallon aquarium. I would like a pleco that looks cool and does well with other fish. Thanks For your help!

Most plecos available grow too big for a 20 gallon. The only small one I can think of is the bristlenose, but even they can grow to a decent size.

I think you could prolly only get away with a bristlenose or rubberlip. I may be wrong about rubberlips though. The rubberlip i used to have stayed pretty small, but that may have just been a fluke.

I'd say go with a bristlenose.... it'll stay small for long enough...

Clown pleco's stay small enough for a 20, but they need driftwood to eat and are seldom seen. As far as general visibility I'd go with a longfin BN, brown or albino.

Clown Plecos are very messy also! Waste wise from all the drift wood they eat. If not for them my sand would look quite clean! I rarely get to see my pair of Clown plecos in my 55g but when I do I know it was worth the purchase. I would get either a Clown Pleco or like toddnbecka a longfin BN.

Get a zebra pleco L-46!!! LoL, if you have 200 something.. Or King Tiger Pleco or a Chocolate zebra pleco... I like the Hypancistrus genus... They look cool. But then most of them don't eat much algae... Anyways, The ones mentioned b4 my posts are good picks too, but this is my opinion...
Also, they stay smaller then 5 in... Some top out at 4...
