I got two black skirt tetras yesterday to be with my older black skirt tetra and I have a question cause I think I might have some babies comming
how long does it usually take for a black skirt tetra to mature and have babies?
i got mine yesterday and I think a got a pregnant one..... they are about an inch long and I realized today tht one of them is like always trying to hide he/shes ok as far as I can see shes eating shes fine but shes always hid behind a rock and I noticed today shes FATTT could it be a desease or shes actually pregnant?
thnks again guys
I will try to put pics of her later

Well, black tetras lay eggs, don't give birth to live young, but she looks ready to spawn. If you want to save the eggs, you'll have to move her and a male to a seperate breeding tank and then remove them after they spawn so you can save the eggs

I have like a GIANT beta bowl about 2gallons and some rocks to put on the bottom of it and an extra air pump and air stone will tht work? what else do I need?
I think I have no males they all look the same no differences

Males are slimmer than the females usually. If you decide to use the betta bowl, you will need to put a couple of plants in there and a heater. Drain enough water from you tank into the bowl so that the tetras arent exposed to a huge difference in water quality.

yea I was thinking on draining the water but I think mine are all female and I have no other heater it sucks I will loose it
what if I get one of those nets u put inside the aquarium and put the 2 fish in it? would tht work as well??? cause I can try to get it tomorrow if its not too late

if it's not full of eggs, it could also be constipated. It wouldn't hurt to try feeding a few cooked peas (take the skin off and cool the pea down in tank water then smush it a little so it's easier for her to eat).

Unless you've seen her poop recently, then she's not constipated and possibly has a belly full of eggs.

by the way, you took some very nice photos. well, the first two anyway. they are very clear. Good job!

I will try feeding her peas
I didnt see her poop I never see my fish poop at all nd I am always looking at the tank but I doo see their pooo LOL:hmm3grin2orange:
I will try feeding her the peas hope it helps and I will see if I can get one breeding trap tomorrow just in case maybe I am lucky
thnks

oooo and the pictures I had to take like 100 pics to get like 5 good LOL they dnt stop swimming they are always swimming around and they are fast lol

I only have canned peas so I will boil cook them as I would normally but for less time cause they are cooked already then let it cool on aquarium water and feed it to them without the skin
can all of the fish eat it? cause its gonna be hard to give it only to tht tetra

I was gonna open another thread for this but since we are talking about feeding here I will ask another question I wanted to ask
what else could I feed my fish? I am feeding tetramin tropical flakes what else could I add to their diet?

I usually toss in some bloodworms, zuchinis, algae wafers, cucumbers for my omnivourous fish. Feeding algae wafers is the most fun, since my 3 cardinal tetras will rip into it and it looks like 3 mini piranhas going at a feeder...lol

lol, yeah, I always have a problem with my angel following my hand when I'm close to the tank. Whenever I put in stuff for the plants, he's always there. I'm sure the yellowish liquid of trace elements and the organic carbon stuff doesn't taste too good, lol.

blood worms 1 time a week, brine shrimp, algae wafers, flakes, pellets, tubifex worms, live cricket as a treat, live tubifex and mealworms as a treat, depending on the fish, maybe veggies as a treat, and spritualina flakes

thanks guyss
I think she was just constipated because now she looks normal or she layed the eggs at night and I didnt see she/he still a little thicker than the other 2 so I think tht prooves its a FEMALE and the other 2 are male....
