Pruning Chaeto?

I was wondering when we should prune our chaeto. Do you prune it monthly for nutrient export, or when its taking over the fuge? Its trippled in size since we got it back in December. Its not taking up too much space, maybe a 1/4 of the surface of the fuge. We also have another macro in the fuge (can't remember the name but it looks similar to kelp) so we don't want it to block the light from that either (its not blocking any yet)

That was from my 16g. Now that I have a skimmer, I get almost no growth.

Wow, its not like that. Since we've added the macro and mangrove we pull hardly any skimmate. We have to empty the cup every 3 or 4 days. The macro really works great
