Another Newbie...

Hello All... looking forward to getting to know the forum and all its members. I kind of fell in the the aquarium hobby lately when my In Laws thought it would be cool to get my young son a "fish bowl" for Christmas. Well, needless to say the "fish bowl" was a cheapo aquarium setup with an air stone/pump type filter that didn't do much but constantly burp large air bubbles into the tank. After about a week the water was so nasty, I do not know how any thing (but our Zebra Danio) could have survived. I made a trip to the local pet store after that week and bought my son a Marineland Eclipse system 3 tank. Much better... now we have a pump, a replaceable filter element and a decent light. Went through the whole cycling thing with this tank and now have a decent home for our Zebra Danio and our most recent addition a Long Fin Zebra Danio. We are having a good time caring for the fish and keeping the tank looking good. Now we are wondering if the 3 gallon tank is maxed out with the two Danios or maybe we could find a few other very small fish like ember tetras or something. We are looking forward to corresponding with members with experience and good ideas.

Oh, I can really see how addicting this whole hobby can get. I was talking the other day to a friend of mine who has been keeping African Cichlids in a 180g tank for about the last six or seven years and he says to me, "hey, I've got an empty 55g tank you could have"... and I am really considering it... after only having been "in the hobby" for about six or eight weeks now. Addicting?? OH YEAH. But a heck of a lot of fun too. Thanks for the welcome.

This is how you post pictures:
1. You click on photo gallery on the left menu.
2. On the upper right you will see "Upload Photos" click on that.
3. Upload your photo.
4. Click process after you upload it.
5. Your photo should be under your photos.
It doesn't matter how big it is because you have unlimited space on this site. This site also will resize your photos so it will fit on the page.

Nice tank, and good for you for trying to provide better conditions than the round fish bowl. They say one good turn deserves another so lucky to have that offer of the larger tankthumbs2: Well what should you? You know you will end up with a larger tank at some stage. lol

Get the 55g and then you can upgrade to a larger tank later:hmm3grin2orange:

definately go for the 55 gallon...

not only will u fit more fish in there, any mistakes you make wont have such a big impact on the water quality as ther is more water in the tank..
