I had 2 of them, pretty small since they are babies. For the past 3 days, all I can spot is 1 of them.
I've looked the best I could, but still....only one! It's like it just disappeared without a trace.
Since it's small, if it died, I thought it would easily get sucked to the filter intake.
Would the other fish I have eat it up entirely??

My loaches eat everything that dies but I don't see anything on the list you have that would eat them. How could it be sucked into the filter uptake with the strainer on there? Could he have gotten caught in a decoration in the tank? Likely he's gone as you'd be seeing them since gourami's hang in the center of the tank.

lots of people are having trouble finding fish lately.
I too lost one of my four glowlight tetras. I checked all filters, floor, docor, gravel and EVERYTHING.
Is it possible that he is hiding somewhere in decor or somewhere?
He must be sick since gouramis are middle to top dwellers.
Maybe he'll pop up soon. i hope so.
Good luck

My gourami stays hidden at the bottom:confused: I think he's shy.
Anyway, I've lost fish before too, only to find their carcasses somewhere later. Have u checked under any crevaces in rocks or at the base of plants?

Both gouramis have been shy since the beginning. I think because they are so small. The one is no longer shy, so he's easy to find. The other one, just don't know.
I checked all the deco like suggested, but nada!
I'm thinking that when I had that problem with the gunk flowing back into the water a week or two ago, and I changed 50% of the water and took all the plants and stuff out to clean. Maybe (I'm hoping not!!!) he got stuck in one of the plants then? But I would have seen him in the kitchen sink when I rinsed the plants.
Oh well....I'll keep searching, but it's just so strange for nothing to be left of him. And kinda sad too :(

That really is strange. Is there a new variety of Gourami..the disappearing Gourami?

haha! maybe!
One time I lost a honey gourami and spent over a day looking for him and it turns out he was just in a patch of crypts (seriously!) right in the front of the tank

maybe your gourami got invisible due to natural selection?

I have some good news! No, I didn't find the lost gourami :( but I decided to get rid of the Black Skirts and Danios. I traded them in for 4 baby angels (they are soooo cute!!!)
Anyway...when I came home with the angels, my lone honey gourami baby was out and about, like I've never seen it do!! Actually playing in the bubbles....swimming all around...coming to the front of the tank, etc. It's like it lost its shyness within 2 hours!
I know now, that it was because of the other fish, that he was so shy(scared?) and probably the other baby died because of the stress.
I had to take some plants out, to catch the other fish, but I never spotted the lost gourami.
The happy ending (so far) is that I'm growing a fond attachment to the baby gourami I have left. He seems so very happy now!!
Quick question....should I get another baby honey for him? I read they do well in pairs, but I don't want to disturb his happiness :)
