Also known sometimes as blue angelfish or Koran Angelfish, looks very similar to a juvenile emporer angelfish

Does anybody else keep this species of fish? As a juvenile they are a wonderful pet but I have never seen them sold in a pet store.

Just wondering if anybody else has had the joy of owning one?

Nice fish but they get pretty big. Needs at least 100g and can't be in a reef tank. One of the few large angels that look as good as an adult as they do when they are young.

If you have a fish only tank and it is over 100g, you can get them at [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] for a decent price.

Why do you say you can't put them in a reef tank? Not that I don't believe what your saying its just I have mine in a reef tank and no problems so far...? Should I be worried.

Many (but not all) of the angelfish species are coral nippers and may damage corals. When I worked at an SW LFS we sold this type of angel; kind of expensive.

Is it a juvenile?

Many large angelfish species will turn on you corals once they begin to reach maturity (colour change)

Any stony or soft corals will get nipped at non-stop by a Koran Angel. Maybe not you specifically, but many SW fish keepers mistake a tank with just live rock as a reef tank. A proper reef tank will be just like a reef in the ocean (live rock, corals, fish , inverts etc)

You can have a FOWLR (fish only with love rock) set up but coral are an expensive food source for this fish. They spend most of their day grazing on LR. You can add fake corals to give the effect of a reef but a true reef and a Koran Angel is not a good mix.
