Ken just got back from shopping, and advised me that there's a sign up in the fish dept. at WalMart...Closed Permanently On Friday!!! Now, I'll have an 8 hour drive (return), if I want to pick up a fish, frozen food or an aquatic plant...GREAT!!!:scry:

With that kind of drive, it'll be cheaper for you to start ordering stuff online and having it shipped.
Cheaper stuff online, including plants and live fish, shipping fees will probably still end up cheaper than having to drive that far.

Oh dear, that's not good, but like the previous posts online would be the way to go!

The fish department at my Walmart is about 6 ft long. The have never had a plant, frozen food and barely any fish. The typical goldfish is about it. If they are closing down, you might get some really good deals on Thursday?

I'd reccommend stocking up on any fish necessaties before friday. Lake LH said, maybe you'll get a good deal on your stuff since they're not going to carry it anymore.

the wal-mart by me did the same thing a couple years ago. they didnt put anything on sale, and they had a dozen or so fish left. i was going to take them all and rescue them, but noone came after a hour of waiting to net them so i didnt get them. the next day, all the tanks were drained with no fish, i wouldnt be surprised if wal-mart gave them the flush or something

I get all my filter supplies through one of the stores on amazon.com. I guess if I had to, I'd had no issue getting the food from there too, but all the supermarkets here carry the basic foodstuffs, so I get most of mine there. I did check out the food selection on Amazon.com, and you should be able to get most of the dry and freeze-dried stuff from there. Anything fresh or frozen, I don't know.
As for buying fish online? I don't know, that sounds kinda weird. Considering how the USPS, UPS and FedEx treats any kind of mail that I'm getting, I'd have reservations about getting my fish online. Didn't really know that was an option.

Bettas are half price, and the frozen food was half price, but none left. I bought some plants today, at regular price. Although I do expect a sale, I'm leaving town on Fri. morning for my Dad's 79th birthday, so I won't be able to take advantage of it.
Apparently, they'll still be selling tanks and equipment...just not fish.
Maybe I should pick up some Cories...I've been meaning to increase my numbers...
Sorry that shopping is going to be more difficult!
I'm not a fan of ordering on-line. Maybe it's more effecient in the US, but I think it leaves a lot to be desired up here.
I do order some bird supplies on-line...but that's all dry goods.
I have gone in on group orders and ordered corals, but it's such a PITB. Overall I'm scared to order livestock - too many horror stories about receiving dead animals. I hate to put them through that.

Yes, I think I'll be shopping in person! My daughter lives in a city with LOTS of fish stores. I'm going to have to visit her more often!!! She does love to fish shop too, so that should work out!!!
