We were originally going to add a purple firefish as our final stocking, but are having trouble locating one. Would a pair of pj cardinals be ok in our 29, or would that be pushing it? Our current stocking is 2 o-clowns and a falco hawkfish. If its pushing it or if their not compatible then we'll do without

I think you'll be fine to add a pair of PJs. They like to hover in the same area, so don't seem to have the same space requirements as more active fish.

And I've watched them intently in a 100g tank - before I got them for my 34g...although they dart about the entire tank, mostly they just hover in place...

I have 3 PJs in my 29g along with a Watchman Goby and planning on a Royal Gramma. I think you could fit them in your tank, then you would be at your limit. They are a beautiful fish in my opinion too.

agreed...I think that would be fine

Cool, thank you. They seem to be easier to find the the fire fish. Should I get them as a pair, or will they get along either way?

Try for a pair, but they will probably co-exist.

Yes...I agree...either way is likely fine...but probably easier to get the pair right off the bat...
