So I picked up this 90g tank yesterday. I have no idea what to put in it. I know more about what I don't like and don't want than what I do, so I'm open to suggestions. Here are the things I know:

1. I'm not a fan of big fish (oscars, JD's, etc)

2. I don't want anything that requires me to make major water adjustments (i.e., pH, KH, GH, etc.) and my tap water is about 7.6 pH, with dkH at 3 and GH at 13 (or maybe the other way around, I can't remember).

3. I don't want anything that has to have super clean water (i.e., discus) ... not that I don't keep the water clean, I just don't have time for daily water changes ...

4. I don't want fish that will eat plants, as I plan to make this a planted tank.

5. I DO want fish that are entertaining and have some personality ...

Thanks!

Good suggestions.

I was just thinking about having a large tank with more smaller fish in it...

I will start looking at those right away ... I can tell you, my wife loves bleeding heart tetras ... so those are a definite possibility.

Tetras are great if you have a decent-size school, but no personality. Same with barbs, though they tend to be a bit nippy, particularly if you have anything with long fins or trailing filaments. If you want personality you need to look at cichlids, and dwarfs will mix well w/tetras.
Krib's would likely suit you better than Apisto's unless you have soft, neutral or acidic tap water.

boesmani (sp?) rainbows
keyhole cichlid's are great community cichlids
loaches/cories

all have relatively low upkeep and won't harm your plants, they are also quite amusing.

Thanks! I suggested boesemani's for the 46g and no one else likes them ... have to read up on keyhole cichlid's, I'm not familiar ... and my 6 year old has been begging for a clown loach, so maybe that's a possibility
