I decided to try for a few shots of the celestial pearl danios today, and I managed to get a couple that were okay. They sure are shy and love to hide behind the large clump of java moss you see in the picture.

Here's the best one I got of one of my males. What a beauty :hmm3grin2orange:

And here is another one.

Now, if I could only find out how to get rid of the algae in the tank. . .

Really nice fish.

I know nothing about them. Do they require a planted tank? Are they a nice community fish?

They are a very shy fish by nature, but from what I've heard some of the tank bred fish are a little more outgoing. I don't believe mine would have been wild caught, but I'm not positive. It does appear that some of my youngest fish are a little less shy than the older ones, but they still all run and hide together.

Anyway, given their shy nature, they would definitely be less stressed in at least a moderately planted environment. They can be kept w/ other fish, but I would only recommend very peaceful tank mates.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought I'd let you know, Rue, that mine seem to be doing a bit better since I've been giving them more frozen food (daphnia and blood worms) along w/ hikari micro pellets.
