Hi People,

I'm still very new to this so any help would be great!!!

I've got a 2 foot tank (no idea how many litres that is!!!). The tank has been setup since December and I've got the following in there:

- 6 Marigold Swordtails
- 2 Red Dwarf Gouramis
- 1 catfish...sucker fish I think...

I have some grass in the tank - not much plants but will probably add more. I've also got a nice piece of driftwood as the centre piece!

So is there still some room for more fish? If I could introduce some more colour that would be great.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Cheers,

If you go to calculators in the left hand menu, there is a volume calculator in there. My standard 2 foot tank is 60 litres.
As for stocking, I reckon you would be pushing the limits, depending on the type of sucking catfish you have, (if it is a suckermouth) it alone may grow to 30cm.

Good to see another Aussie joined:thumb:

How far from Caboolture are you, there is a bloke on ebay sells brand new 4 foot tanks for $75, and 6 foot for $125.

You can probably add some dither fish like rasbora's or danio's to liven the tank up. I have the red tailed rasbora's and like them a lot. Remain small, bother nothing and keep moving.

Thanks guys. I'll have a look at my local fish shop this afternoon.

Mate - I'm a fair way from Caboolture - thanks anyway for the details on ebay.

My personal recommendation on whether you can add more fish or not is to examine your water change schedule, and what your water readings are just before a water change. If you change water weekly, and your water parameters are reading 0 ammonia and nitrites, and very little nitrates, your tank looks like it can handle more fish without everyone getting in each others way all of the time, you can probably safely add more fish. If you are seeing ANY ammonia or nitrites, and/or large nitrate readings you are most likely pushing the limits and adding anything will stress the tank.

Isn't a 2 ft tank a 20 gallon high?

1 platy, 3 tetras, or MAYBE a dwarf gourami if you have good filtration.
Also, an otto catfish

My 20 High is 24 inches long by 16 inches high. So is his tank 24L by 12H?
