I cleaned my 55g goldfish tank today, redecorated a bit. After several soakings in HOT water yesterday, the driftwood seemed better (less tannins)...

It's a coldwater tank and sits steady at ~65 C year round.

In that tank I have black slime algae. It scrubs off easily, but looks, well...like black slime.

Anyone else have it? Not sure what to do to get rid of it...

Sounds like cyanobacteria to me... Did you try Dave66's primer?

Is that the FW version of cyano? It's the same stuff I used to slip on in the summers when I was wading along lake shores...

LOL...it's not really a problem, it's just ugly.

The red cyano in my SW tank is a problem...it will choke out my corals if it grows over them...but the FW black slime doesn't really do anything...
