was able to snap some pics of 2 of my clowns fighting for the "alpha loach" crown. Quite entertaining to say the least... not sure who won the tussle, but it went on for about an hour. Their black stripes turn pale gray and they wrestle it out!

!!! ...and the grand finale... !!! The last picture I took a bit later when the olive royal pleco come cruisin' around the tank and I though he looked cool.

I've only seen my loaches fight twice in the 3 years I've had them. Guess they figured it out early. I dropped some fish food in the tank to distract them and it worked.

Your arging loaches look more like females to me. Generally not as brightly colored and plumper than the males.

Mine only fight when I've just added food...maybe I'm not feeding enough...

actually, you're probably right LH... as the "alpha loach" are almost always female. I'm sure not too many people realize that.

They are always very brightly colored, unless they're wrestling.

I have a very bad habit of calling of any fish "he" (blush)
