The pics are quite blurry, but from what I can see I'd guess it's a "Bumblebee cichlid" Maylandia Crabro. do a yahoo image search or something similar and see if the pics match up to what you've got? Hope I'm right!

Are bumblebees mbunas?

I'm not sure what the difference is but I also found the "Pseudotropheus crabro" which is also called the "bumblebee". It is from Lake Malawi.

That looks very much like a juv. Bumblebee cichlid to me. He is a mbuna and should be fine in your tank. I'm almost 99% sure that is what you have. Pseudotropheus crabro is the old name but the same fish.

Good call jweintraub.

Oh yea, thats right, they look different when they are juvies, should they be fine in a 29?

They do look like young bumblebees, although ours was not quite such a bright yellow....gorgeous coloring.
When they mature they can get quite dark. As for staying in a 29, not quite sure about that, they are one of the bigger africans.....ours is pushing over 4" and he is also quite the tank boss.

In theory he should be fine in the 29 if you stock it properly and get enough rocks in there. I've never kept bumblebees but they seem like very cool fish. I think you should give him a try.

I want to get two yellow lab juvies and two either red or albino zebra juvies. would that work.

Those shouldn't be problems. I would get another socolofi and another bumblebee then get 3 of the labs or the zebras. They should all be fine but try to add them in groups so they don't get picked on.

Lets see a picture of you tank too.
Good luck.
