Just imagine the scene.

A member of staff standing in front of a tank of about 500 neon tetras.

A new fish keeper coming to buy there first fish.

Staff member standing there with bag and net ready to catch how ever many the guy wants.

Staff member says " how many you want sire "?

Customer says "Hmm about 10 can I have that one... that one ... that one..." ? ( you get the picture? )

Staff member says " Heres the net you have a go. "

oh yeah, give me the net anytime... when I got my pictus cats the guy at the store went to scoop 'em up in the net and I advised him against it... low and behold the first one he scoops is all caught and tangled... alas, he used a plastic container to get my 2 after that.

:hmm3grin2orange: I can't see any problem with wanting specific fish, after all, don't we all have that special ability to catch a small multi coloured fish that's swimming around 499 other multi coloured fish.:hmm3grin2orange:

I feel sorry for some shop assistants.

If I'm buying a fish I want the one I want. But seriously if the fish ALL look the same hoe can you have certain ones you want.

One trick to Pictus cats is a Brine shrimp net. The next to no mesh and the thicker soft fabric really does the trick Ive not had one get caught in the net yet...plus if you move it doesnt run out of water either.

On tanks where we have *ALOT* of the exact same its clearly stated no specific choice. Now if we have say a random tiger barb that just has some crazy marking I will net that one out if requested but if it looks the same to me Im not standing there for 2hrs. :)
