I have a 150g saltwater setup. Due to a recent ice storm, I lost 18 fish with only 2 fish surviving . The survivors include a Longnose Hawkfish and a Lamarch's Angelfish. Before the unfortunate loss, I had about 6 fish mysteriously disappear. They were smaller and new, so I wrote them off as dying and then cleaned up by my star urchin.
When I came home from work today, my Angelfish has half his tail bitten off!!! Could my Longnose Hawkfish be the culpret? I wouldn't think so, but please help with suggestions or experiences.
The only other living things in the aquarium that I'm aware of are a star urchin and a pink-tipped anenome. Thanks

Welcome to the AC and sorry for your losses. Do you have any pictures? How large is the angelfish and the long nose hawkfish? The hawkfish could be the culprit depending on size, as they can get territorial. Given the stress from the power outage, it could possible be fin rot or another disease. A picture would help us to determine it.
Also, how is your tank set-up? (how much live rock, skimmer, any other type of filtration, how long has it been running?) this will also help as well as what your parameters are.

I'm not inclined to suspect the Hawkfish. I have a Lamark's Angel, and they are too big for a Longnose Hawkfish to bite half the tail off. Have you ever heard any clicking sounds in the tank after lights out?

Thanks for the responses. After looking from another point of view, fin rot may be the answer? What's the best way or products to combat this?
My filtration includes a Rena-Filstar XP3 Canister Filter, and also 2 jets on either side of the tank; one at the top of a side, and one at the bottom of the other. I do not have a protein skimmer. There is roughly 80 lbs of live rock in the tank, along with live sand. The tank had been set-up and running for approx. 5 months at the time of the power outage. I took some pics last night, and will try to get them posted later.
When my fish first started disappearing, I did research and read about the Mantis Shrimp. Isn't this guy way too big to be hiding anytime the lights are on? But to answer the question, I haven't heard any clicking noises.
