Now those were the shots I was waiting for! Beautiful fish Brookfish! I can't wait till mine are that big.... still got a ways to go though... how do the calvus get along with your fronts? And how many of each do you have in the tank?

Thanks mate, they get on great togather, I have 11 juvie fronts
and 1 6" specimen, I have 4 juvie calvus, i'll be thinning them out
as they grow or pair up and i'll be moving them from the juwel 450
to a bigger custom made tank.

Heres one thing to always keep in mind about calvus'...calvuses.....calvii!! If any of your other fish spawn, their fry stand no chance. These guys LOVE anything they can fit in their mouth, and as your pics so well.......depicded they have the mouth shape to get the job done.. My julie couple and their regular spawns did not appreciate the calvus one bit.

I'm going to hafta thin my front colony out a bit also when the time comes. Still not positive on 3 of the 8 frontosas sexes. That should make room for the calvus when the time comes! Even now, 130 gallons doesn't seem so big anymore. My fronts are getting BIG! I'll show some updated pics soon enough!
Sounds like a great tank mate! Keep up the good work! :shappy:

It's amazing how you think you have a big tank untill you introduce
big fish into it, looking forward to your pics bud.

Drip loop i'm hoping the Fronts being mouth breeders can hold on to their
eggs long enough for me to strip them when the time comes, if not
i'll just remove the Calvs.

Thanks for the comment Brian!

Hey Brookfish, are your calvus' shy fish? or are they out and about most of the time? I hear they can be quite shy, but then again, so are the frontosas.

Both my Fronts and calvs are out all the time bud, they are in a tank
right next my pc and are always coming up to the glass begging.
If they were in a tank that didn't receive much traffic it might be a
different story.

I have 12 now, no room for another, been trying to convince the wife that we really don't need the couch or some of the bedroom furnituer, after all, it's just the 2 of us (until the 7 Grandkids come by).
I am totally obsessed with fish, have been since I was old enough to point.
If I could afford it I would have a minimum of a 6000 sq ft fish house and I guarantee I would still want more!!!:18:

I have 3 in storage, and 2 to pick up next week, a 38, and a 150 that need an end replaced, I just don't have space to set them up

They originate from one of the east african rift lakes, Lake Tanganyika.
