Do they look like little white worms. They wiggle and swim around?
They are Planaria. Yes, the fish will eat them but it's from overfeeding mainly and not keeping tank clean. They will reproduce. Try scooping out uneaten food and sucking the bottom and do a takedown.

good question, wish I had the answer.
You can siphon a lot of them, don't understand why the fish don't eat them, mine loved them

I would run my net across the waters surface and see if you can grab most of them. They look like some sort of a water bug to me.

I think I have those on my floating plants. It might be some kind of mite.

See if you can drown them by having a lot of water surface movement.

You got it, Punisher. Those are mites. They are feeding on the bio-scum on the top of the water. The hopping described and the photo says mites. If the original poster had dragged a clean sheet of paper across the top of the water to remove the food source, the mites would fade away.

Harmless creatures. They only bloom like that and become a plague when one overfeeds, doesn't vacuum the gravel or uses low-quality food that have a large quantity of fish oil in it.

It's the profusion of a food source that gives one a plague of mites. The original poster should re-evaluate his feeding and maintenance practices, or the mites will return in such numbers again.

Those are not planaria! These are planaria![Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
