im looking for a plant that could sit on top of an aquarium with its roots trailing in the water.

nothing fancy, just something that won't rot from that much water or mess up the pH etc.

On top of tank or on top of the water. There are many floating plants to pick from.

If you are thinking of a plant that isn't an aquarium plant, look up floating pond plants.

Here are 2 that float on top of the water.

Amazon Frogbit, Limnobium laevigatum

Brazilian pennywort, Hydrocotyle leucocephala

i was thinking more on top of a lid type thing with roots filtering though holes, as opposed to floating, but im thinking some floating plants could be adapted without too much trouble.

thanks for the suggestions, appreciate it.
