Well, I received a list from my importer friend with some rare stuff:

1x Black Tang - $900+
1x Tinkers Butterfly - $600+
1x Declivis Butterfly - $450-$500
2x Mystery Wrasse - $280 each
2x Juvi Chevron Tang - $250-$300+ each

None of these prices are final as they just arrived in the country 2 days ago. They have 3 weeks of compulsory quarantine to go so he may lose some of them.

Assuming they survive, I have ordered the declivis butterfly (Chaetodon declivis) and I will be picking it up between April 6 and April 11

Pic for those who haven't seen them:

why is the black tang so expsensive?

Black tangs are the second rarest species of tang on the planet.

They are only collected in limited quantities at the Christmas Kiribati Islands in the Central Pacific. Flights through this area are few and far between with very little cargo space reserved for live fish.

The Declivis butterfly is also endemic to the area but is slightly cheaper due to them being easier to catch.

Also, with the state of the NZ Dollar, the price has skyrocketed. About six months ago he had a black tang for $500 (Cheaper than in the states) but that was before the global economic crisis.
