Having fed my fish too many bloodworms on monday I havnt fed them until today and noticed that my Tiger barbs had stopped swimming rapidly down without moving.

However today after feeding the fish with flakes I noticed the tiger barbs swimming downwards and was wondering whether it was to do with swallowing air from the surface and whether a sinking pellet food would be better?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have never kept barbs, but all the sites that have info about them suggest feeding flake and frozen brine shrimp. I know people suggest feeding goldfish pellets to stop them from ingesting too much air, but I have never known anyone to have a problem with flake.

You can always crush up the flakes and swirl them in some water (like in the cap of the flake container) Then pour in a little at a time. I had to do this when I first got my cardinal tetras, because they couldn't really fit the sinking pellets in their mouth and they wouldn't go to the surface to eat.
