View Full Version : Goodbye sailfin pleco

Well, I finally took my sailfin pleco to the LFS today. There are a lot of LFS's in the area but this one is always the best. My reason for giving him away; he was just getting too big. He still had plenty of room to swim, but I wanted to remove him before he was too big and no one would take him.

The manager that I dealt with (family owned & operated) seemed impressed with the health of him. He said that he has a lot of people say their pleco's are in good health, but when they bring them in their stomachs are caved in, ect. Not mine though!

They have a wide variety of pleco's there. Royals, a tiger, and 2 different types, both black with gold spots - to name a few. They also had a lot of discus, even discus fry that were bred in store. They were smaller than my fingernail!

I guess it's time to cater to my clown loaches now...

Oh yeah, I saw a post on craigslist for a light for a 125 gal that was for sale or trade for a large catfish or pleco. I emailed him to let him know that I didn't need the light, but I have a pleco. He replied back... in the 125... is a 24 in. arowana, big oscars, and a catfish. I told him no thanks, i didn't want to risk my pleco...

Well, here are some pics of my buddy to remember:

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! On the bright side I am able to do some aquascaping that I could not do before. Built some rock caves for the clowns & corys. More driftwood to play with. More plants (some fake, some real)

That's an awesome pleco, it'll be OK to give it up. A bigger home, new friends, right? Don't cry jb300m01, the kiddies have to leave the nest one day :11:

Gorgeous sailfin!! I would've taken it! haha... but after seeing poor Brookfish's frontosa that was sent in the mail it probably wouldn't have been a good idea.

Ohhhh, he was just gorgeous. That pet shop owner will make some money on the resale of him. Hope he goes to a good home and you did the right thing by him.
