Hello everyone,
I was given all of this aquarium equipment and I just do not have time nor the money to get it going. I'm not familiar with how much all of this equipment costs so if you don't mind I'm turning to you, the experts, for help with setting a fair price for this used equipment. Since I don't know what I'm looking at I took pictures. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. The tank is 50 gallons.
Thank you,

Dave

So if you were to set a price for all of this stuff, what would it be?

Maybe like 100? It depends on where you live and what the brands/models are on those pumps. I figure 50 for the tank and 50 for the wet/dry filter setup.

I've never bought a used tank but I just went onto Petsmart's website and a new 50 gallon was about $200. I don't know how much the filter would cost because I have a different kind that is much bigger. I think maybe around $30 or so for the filter.

If I had to hazard a guess I might say $100 - $150 for everything but I'd feel better if someone else would come behind me and give their opinion. (oops.... didn't see Chrona's post when I typed my reply)

Hope this helps some......

I wish I could help you. I don't know much about fish yet, but I hope you get whatever you ask for it.

I would definitely say $100-150 would be a fair price.

i had been looking around for used tanks in my area, and it seems that lots of people were pricing their tanks that size for $100. Equipment included would be a little higher at around $130 or so. Ask for $150 and see what kind of responses you get, then if it doesn't sell, go down $20, and so on. You should see it go pretty soon.

another thing is to check out the tank for any scratches and/or chips in the glass. Look at the glue around the edges and the plastic seams at the top for any defects/chips/dents. If it looks to be in good shape, go with $100. If it has some defects, make it for $90. It also wouldn't hurt to go ahead and fill it 3/4 full of water and leave it for a few days just so that you can say that it definitely holds water without leaking. That is something the buyer will think about first, so it's good to mention that right away. Maybe post a picture of it with water in it for your ad.

Thank you very much for everyones responses. I really appreciate it. $100-$150 is what I guesstimated it might have cost, so I'm not disappointed by any means and getting numerous quotes in the same price range makes me feel a whole lot better. So thanks again everyone.

Glasstapper - Good idea, I will definitely fill it up and make sure it holds water before I post an ad. Worse case scenario, it doesn't hold water. I imagine I can reseal it myself with some help of a Google search right?
