Can various types of corys be mixed in the same tank? I already have panda corys in 3 of my tanks. I was going to add some bronze, green, and spotted corys to various tanks but I wanted to make sure they would get along well. Would I be better just adding more panda corys?

Also, is the plural of Cory, Corys or Cories? I've seen both online. :help:

I couldnt tell you what the actual plural is, i suspect its cories but then again, whats the plural of corydoras? corydoras? or is it corydorases? :hmm3grin2orange:

Mixing them is fine they wont breed unless they are color morph or variants of the same species usually. Like albino and non albino of the same species, etc

I just spell is corys..

There is no plural for corydoras, I believe..

It's singular an plural..

How big are the shoals of pandas in each tank?

I was thinking about getting another species of cory myself, but decided I'd rather have a bigger shoal of the one species..

They WILL school with other species, I'm told, but from what I've observed and heard, they like their own kind best..

They do like their own kind best, especially at bedtime.

I keep lot's of different kinds of cory togather, not a prob.
But as someone has already said they do prefer shoaling
with their own kind.

Corydoras is the genus name, it is followed by a species name for each individual member of the corydoras genus. When talking about multiple individuals from a species, the species name is pluralized rather than the genus. For example one homo sapian, two homo sapains. For this reason, there would be no plural for corydoras.

Long story short, there probably is no convention on how you spell it.

I somehow ended up with 3 species...and have a total of 5 - they all school together...

HMM, IMO and IME I have found it better to just stick to oe species of Cory in one tank. Although keeping different types of Cory together in proper schools works as well.

I have just found they are much better just with one speices.
