I'm pretty sure they are, but I'm asking your opinions just to make sure. These are what I'm getting at this point.

Yes they are all compatible. The thing with Malawi. If you get any that are very similar or almost exactly the same in colour or markings they will inter breed unless your just thinking of an all male tank which is what a lot of people do as the females are rather drab in colour. :ssmile:

Sorry Mith I am not experienced enough with these to know for sure... what size is the tank?

You never met Sailor. He's been AWOL since Christmas. Fishguy has had these fish, too.

Mith, I don't know beans about these fish but you seem to have an awful lot of them on your wish list. Remember they are all 5-6 inchers and are not the mbuna that like tons of company. I agree with an all male tank. No spawning and all that nonsense going on.

It's a 125 gallon and I'm planning on all males so there's no breeding. Since they DO get up to six inches, I may not get ALL of them...but then, there's probably room in my tank and if there's more of them, their will likely be less fighting... which is another reason I chose these fish, they're demeanor is peaceful. Below is my tank as it is at the moment.

Looking good, Mith! I can't comment on the fish types either, as I've no experience with Peacocks. Are you still having the Clowns?

I sure love clowns, but with all these fish, I would have a difficult time getting food to them, though I know it's possible. I may just get some type of cool catfish and leave it at that... or just leave the fish alone as is.

Very nice set up Mith. thumbs2:

PS..... I wonder if having 12 6" fish is too much for my tank (125 gal)

If you want a catfish. Most use synodontis catfish. Just watch the size on which ever you choose if you go that way. thumbs2:

Do you think that 12 6" fish in my tank is too many?

The general rule is 1" of fish per gallon. You then take into concideration the adult size of the fish so 12 x 6" is 72" of fish. As you have a 125 gallon You can fit a few more in and even with peacocks if you have more filtration than you really need you can break the rules just slightly and over stock too. :ssmile:

Someone mentioned that 1"/gallon rule the other day in a thread and one of the replies (forgot who) was quite adamant that the rule was inaccurate. Though I've heard that as well.

I do however, think that I have enough room no matter how you slice it. Thanks for the info!thumbs2:

It isn't strictly true and set in stone. Most just take it as a guide. It all depends on which fish your going for and the adult size the fish will eventually reach not the size you bought them at the LFS has to be taken into consideration too. :ssmile:

Thats a great looking tank mith and a very nice selection of peacocks,
the only fish I think that may harrass the others is the OB Peacock,
(10th pic the beautiful multi coloured fish,) 12 fish will be fine in that size tank
but just make sure it is well cycle first, A lot of malawi keepers will
actually over stock a mature tank a little to cut down on aggression
but your set up is to new to try that.
Best of luck with the new project!!

Ya figures... the best fish is the trouble maker... LOL He starts acting up I'll just hold up a box of deep fry fish batter in front of the tank while holding a fillet knife... LOL

Only if there are no video cameras around! LOL

Though this IS California... if I were to offer to roll someone up in batter... they'd probably get all excited!
