I have fish in my tank for about a week now. I have 5 neon tetras, 3 guppys and a zebra danio. My problem is that fish are disapearing. Last week one the neon tetras went missing for 24 hours. I checked the filter, as there are intake vents thats i thought the little fella might have been sucked into. After a long look i could not see him. Then the next day he reappeared. Now yesterday a guppy has disappeared and this morning i checked and another one has disappeared. It is strange, i have checked everywhere for the dead fish but i can't even find that. It is really wierd that fish are just disappearing. has anyone ever experienced this? Are the other fish eating the dead fish (i really doubt that they could) Any info would be helpfull.

Generally, you'd find some kind of scraps. They are probably just hidden somewhere you haven't looked yet

My black kuhli loach disappears for months at a time. I won't see him out or eating a think "that's it, he's kicked the bucket" and then a month later I will see something dart across the tank and it's the loach. I have no idea where it hides. My only guess is that he burrows somewhere.

I've got 4 kuhli loaches in my tank that I haven't seen in a few weeks. I have a piece of malasian driftwood over some black sand in the front of the tank, so I'm pretty sure that's where they are hiding. I set it up that way for then knowing I was planning to get some kuhlis. I"m going to make sure this weekend and lift out that driftwood so I can vacuum under there. It that's where they're hiding, it's probably filled with empty snail shells.

I had a crayfish go missing for a year, and he was hiding in a pit he built

I still am puzzled where one of my glowlights went in my 10g

When I first got my neon tetras they hid behind the water comming out of my filter...I thought they were under my boat or in a plant because I couldn't find them. Then all of the sudden one day I seen something behind the water flow and had to lift the filter and out came all five of them. I also find them hiding in the roots of my fake plants. as for guppies I have had them just disappear outta my tank but figured out later that Betta's love baby guppies and that explained it all. Good luck finding the sneaky lil buggers. You may just have to take an hour and sit there watching the tank to see any movement from one of them....lol

Sometimes Our Fish Like To Hide Behind The Filter Or Behind Our Heater, We Sit There For Ages Looking For Them Then They Appear, The Worst Ones For Hiding Are The Shrimp, They Hide For Weeks At A Time

Do these hiding fish come out and eat when there's no one around? Or do they hibernate? That's funny that everyone has "Houdini" fish! :1luvu:

Usually When They Are Hungry Yes They Do Come Out But They Must Come Out To Eat A Lot At Night When The Lights Are Off, Especially The Shrimp

My fishies do. I never had one gone for weeks, I wondered how they were eating while hiding for a whole week? Can they go that long without food?

Think They Came Out When All The Lights Were Off Cos They Didnt Look Like They Were Unhealthy Or Anything
