How do you tell the difference between male and female yellow labs and what size tank will you recommend for a pair? Also, will a tank containing a single male and female readily breed and will they be overly aggressive to each other?

Most people recomend that you do a 3:1 female to male ratio. They probably need to be in a fairly large tank (smallest would be 29 gallons) and should really only be kept with other malawi cichlids (mbuna). Males have darker black on their pectoral and anal fins but when they are young both sexes look alike.
