I picked him up yesterday from the pet store, I had on picked out the day before, but I wasn't ready to get him. So as soon as we got there, this guy was buying him! I was so mad, but whatever, I just hope he knows how to care for him.

So I had to pick out my new guy. Hes a red crowntail, and hes my first crowntail. Hes so beautiful. Anyways last night was his first night and I was nervous he wasn't going to make it, but I think he just didnt know what to do with all the space in his tank, and have it heated and filtered. Hes zipping all over today, and I see a little bubblenest, so I think hes happy.
I love to rescue bettas!

Oh and I have no top for this 5.5 gallon tank, so what can I use? Right now I have a lamp over his tank for light. I looked at a hood for the tank yesterday, but it was $40, more than what I paid for the tank! Any suggestions?

I have no idea what I'm going to call him... anyways I will get pics up my the end of the day, its hard though cause my camera sucks.

Talk to you all later, Hailey

Can't wait to see him. Crown tails are my favorite of all the varieties. Congrats!

If you don't have a lid it's very important that you lower the water level so he can't jump out of the tank. Bettas love to jump, and especially while they're still settling into a new tank they might get the idea into their head to try to leave it.

Ok, thanks, I'll have to try to figure out something.

And do you think I can find any batteries?! This place makes me mad sometimes, I need to move.

Hailey, some Bettas are really good jumpers. I've never had a male jump, but my females are determined to run away from home! Put something over the tank, even if it's just Saran Wrap with airholes...

Oh thank you, the picture doesn't do him justice though, he is much prettier in real life. I need to get a good quality camera one day.
