I am thinking about purchasing this dvd and I was wondering if anyone has seen it and what their thoughts on it are , is it worth the $50 ?

I have not seen the dvd however I think your $50 could be spent better elsewhere. If the video is going over a tank setup for a novice then I would say the best thing you could do is look for a copy of the book 'The New Marine Aquarium' by Michael Paletta. You should be able to get it for around $30 or less and it will walk you through the process of setup, equipment selection, livestock selection, etc.

Save your $50 and see what your local library has to offer. Many librarys will let you sign out DVDs and VHS tapes. You might find some SW/reef videos for free. If they don't have videos, they will certainly have books on the topic.

save the money and buy 2-3 good books

That's exactly what I was going to say! Try the library for vids, DVDs and books.
