Managed to get the sump up and going today! It was THE tightest squeeze ever! It barely and I mean barely fit in the front opening, lol. Seems to be working perfectly so far. I'm a little nervous to go to sleep but I have tested it a few times so I can't forsee any problems. The noise is definitely going to take some getting used to but really isn't all that bad. I figure as time goes on and everything breaks in it will be little less. I only hear water falling from the box and tube. I plan to make the center of the sump a refugium but that will have to wait till next week's paycheck.

Looks great, you'll get use to the sound and eventually be able to sleep at night. It took us a week to trust it. Wheres your skimmer, still HOB on tank?

sump? Sound? What sound? hehe The sound of water falling puts me to sleep every night. That looks good!! I want to put doors on my sump too but I'm afraid it would get too warm down there.

Very cool! thumbs2:

Jim...you could make doors out of pegboard...that would help with ventilation, and I'll bet once it's all painted up it won't look half bad.

Another option are curtained doors. Just hang the fabric on the inside of the doors...several different ways to do that too...

Yeah I'm still using the Octopus HOB. I figured I payed enough for it and it works great so why bother getting rod of it. I have enough room in the sump for a skimmer but unless this one runs into problems I'll most likely not run one there. Well unless I come across a reef ready set up I can afford, lol.

Thanks! I just wish it would hit the back glass a little more.

I was worried about the heat too but so far things seem to be ok. I'm hoping over the course of the next few days things will stabilize and all will be manageable. The noise actually seems to have gotten better already. I figure once everything breaks in it'll be even quieter which is great.
