No such thing as too much filtration, but too much flow can be stressful, but there are ways to reduce flow in the tank as well. Redundancy in filtration can be very good.

What ways do you use to reduce flow in the tank?

Stuff the filter, put a sponge over the intake, turn the filter down, put objects in the path of the flow to disperse it

Mainly point the output towards the glass and decor, this will quickly reduce the flow in the tank, but still provide high and low flow areas in the tank. This way different fish in different moods can have the high flow fun areas they want or the low flow sheltered relaxing areas if they want. I wouldn't reduce the flow through the filter itself, just how the water flows through the tank.

The varying flow preferences of different fish is exactly why I like to keep the flow in the tank, just reduce it a little so it isn't high flow through the whole tank.
What pleco?

I ended up hookn it up on 29 gal, Royal and snowball pleco, Want to try to breed the snowball, people say its hard to do and fish must be as comfortable as possible. Read that they live in moving water conditions, closer i can get tank to natural the better my chances if possible.

What fish are in the tank/stocking plan? thats gonna be determining the best course of action and how much flow to provide. Research what your fish like and correct appropriately. Make it easy on yourself and dont mix fish that like strong currents with fish that dont if you can. A lot of members have "river tanks" with high flow for keeping said fish
