Here is the original female I had for him. They were fine together for about a month then he decided he didn't like her anymore........on a positive note him and the new female are doing great together and he has started digging areas around the tank so hopefully soon....

He did this to her in a matter of hours.

She is healing and much happier in her new digs without him knocking her around.

Nice fish Brian.:thumb:

A male will usually turn on a female like that when he wants to breed and she isn't ready. Not because he doesn't like her any more. Just one of the things we have to cope with when keeping the larger cichlids. :scry:

Yea I know Celtic, I only said he decided he did not like her anymore because a couple weeks ago they had eggs. Looked good for awhile then she ate them. I wasn't worried as it was her first time.....beginner's gitters and all, I knew they would try again. He must not be as forgiving as me because he waited a few days and then whooped her.

I was trying to be nice.... I wanted to say boy I hope I come down in a few days and this pair either has the other female to a corner, or at least the other female takes the whoopin and not this one, but I didn't want anyone to take that the wrong way.
Indeed it's not beacuse he doesn't like her. But most of the time these guys will keep on mating together once they get started. He wasn't being frisky or persistent, he was cleaning a cave with his new girl, and trying to get rid of his old one. Oh well I caught it at lights out and threw her in another tank so all is well.

Thanks for the comments Celtic.
