Well hubby and I decided where we couldn't find anyone to take our 7 feeder goldfish that we have had for quite some time now (not sure exactly how long) I searched everywhere and no one wanted them. So we HAD to bring them back to our LPS. I didn't want them to go back in the feeder tank at the LPS. I really begged the guy over the phone not to sell them as feeders but he said he couldn't make any promises... So I had Hubby put them all into two zipper bags and as we were walking out the door he asked me if I was ok with this...My responce was I dunno.
Then I felt this really bad feeling got this big knot in my throat and stopped him halfway out the door and told him I had to take My "Moo Cow" out of the mix. I just couldn't do it, he is my buddy. The rest were really feeders that we had no intentions of keeping they were just getting too big for our Oscars to eat. The longer we kept them the bigger they were getting. So anyways I exchanged them for smaller feeders. To my surprise I had a very hard time doing it, I was so tempted to snatch the bag outta his tank and say I changed my mind I will pay for my tuffies...Am I a sap for feeling this way? The only thing that stopped me was... well ok two things..hubby and the fact that we have no room for their needs and I felt I was harming them just keeping them in my heated tanks. I think I did the right thing. ARGGG!!! ((POUTS))

BTW...Why don't we have a crying smiley or sad smiley??? Anyone know?

You did the right thing. No sense in keeping them if you cant or dont want to care for them. Just try and ease your pain by thinking... they probably would have died a natural death in a month or so. lol

I had something similar happen. I bought 6 feeders for my Oscar and he ate all but one. It then got too big for him to eat and they actually got along. I did take him back though, I didn't feel right about keeping a goldfish in a heated tank.

lol yea, it sounds good that way but I doubt that would be how it went down. I wish I had an extra tank to keep them in I would rather have dont that then what I did. Thanks for you kind words GW!

I think dumping anything you buy as a pet should be against the LAW not matter if it is a lil fish or a huge horse..whatever it may be they are pets and ask for nothing but our love, care, and guidence in this crazy world.

That was my reason I thought it was wrong to make them suffer. I had two golds that were like friends with my oscars...but they were supposed to be food not firends..lol

GOD YES!!! I would have lost my mind if I knew he was going back in the feeder tank!

My kids want tanks for their room's so I may just get a tall 30gal for my daughter and give her Moo Cow. I have not made a decision yet.

For the time being he is in my heated tank and will be until I figure out the money situation..space is not a problem "yet" I can fit a whole bunch of tanks in my house still...lol:hmm3grin2orange:
