All,

I have spent the day resetting the substrate and rocks in my tank. I have a planting plan. I have attached pictures of the old and new ... open to your thoughts and suggestions.

I also got my new 78 w light in today. So now, I'm running 108w on approx. 39 gallons of water.

This is the old:

WHOA! NO comparison!!!!! Excellent job, LOVE it!

I'm struggling with my tank as we speak. Wish I could get my tank designed nice. It's hard! You did a very nice job though and seeing those fish kind of makes me have second thoughts about cichlids... LOL but I'm too far into my tank setting up so i'm stuck.

Ya done good though, very nice. thumbs2:

by the way ... all the floating plants are on their way out ... I just have them floating to keep them alive until I can find someone that wants them ...

What's wrong with the plants that you have? Are you going to get a different kind?

I really like it! I love the hilly mountain look! I'm sure the fish are thanking you also!

That's what I was thinking. It's very creative to make that valley effect.

I'm going to cover it in hemianthus callitrichoides to have it grow into a carpet and cover all the black gravel

I know, it reminds me a lot of Takashi Amano's tank designs, and how he minipulates the gravel to look like a mountain, or other landscaped scene.

Added note: If you wanted to really get a hilly effect going, you could plant some java moss on the substrate and let it grow out like grass.

We'll see if I have room for that after I get the carpet growing in ... thanks for the idea ...

Why not buy some peat pellets, stick it in a nylon stocking and drop it in your filter? A nice piece of wood right there in the center of your tank would look awesome, too.
