View Full Version : Peacock Gudgeon
Can somebody tell me how big they get? Minimum tank size? Do they school? Are they good fish? Are they difficult to keep?

It grows to about 7 cm (females slightly smaller but just as colourful). Minimum tank size about 60 litres or so for a pair, bigger if you want to keep a group of them.
They're not difficult to keep, they're not too picky about water conditions. pH between 6-8, and temp between 22-28C. They'll eat flakes and pellets, but should be given some live/frozen food as a regular part of their diet.
The biggest problem about them is that their fry is so tiny and therefore very difficult to raise.
They are very peaceful, but can occasionally nip at smaller fish. Because they are mostly bottom dwelling, the tank shouldn't have too many other bottom dwelling fish.
Could a school of dwarf loaches work with them? Other fish in the tank neon, ember, rumynosed, tetras. Dwarf loaches and blue gouramis. Plus plants.
