I have one clown loach, the last survivor of a failed journey into the depths of a submarine ornament. Him and his two buddies crammed themselves into a small submarine ornament and by the time I noticed they were missing one had already died. After a partially successful deep sea extraction another loach got sick and died (probably from being crammed in a sub with his dead buddy). Now, the sole survivor has gone missing. Needless to say I took the sub out, and made sure there were no other small places for him to hide. He managed tof ind something.
Tonight, I will venture deep into my tank ornaments to attempt and extraction. Wish me luck.
Freaken clown loaches!!!

Clowns are known to get themselves into trouble. I had to remove decore a few times due to similar experiences, but I managed to save all of mine. Sorry to hear about your losses and good luck in the future.

He's probably looking for his buds poor fella, or missing them
and hiding out somewhere, he'll show up, don't worry.
Ps I trust you got rid of the offending ornament?
Sorry I see you already did, nice job!

I hope you find him. Get him some new buddies. They really don't do well, alone...

I agree with Sharon... get him some buddies!! my loaches all cram themselves into the same spots, but I know where they are, so no probs.

Those fake ornaments are death to fish. I had a castle that killed a loach and a couple gourami's and another loach got stuck in a hole in my driftwood. Amazing what a great job plastic bags do crammed into those holes to block them up.

Yup ornaments are a common cause of death for clowns

.........but clowns also need these places to hide in so they feel more comfortable in the tank. Mine cram into a hollowed out log with multiple entrances/exits (with my raphael cat).

I just use PVC pipe pieces now for my loaches. That and rocks. The little buggers are amazing at what they will cram into!!!
Sorry about you problem.
That is why most people with Loaches make large caves out of rock, so they have less a chance to get stuck in them.
Hope all goes well for you.

Well, I cant find him..no where. I think he must have been eaten. I have a large aggressive fish in there, but they seemed to get along....and the big fish was so slow he couldn't even keep up. Darn, poor guy. I am at a loss, I have a 6-7 inch flowerhorn in there, but the loach is at least 3 1/2 inches long, and chubby..I just can't picture the FH fitting him in his mouth, you'd think there would be scraps left over..
I'm a bad dad!
