Ok, I just got a 29gal tank and my wife has decided that it will house fancy guppies. Now all my other tanks have gravel substrate which I really like (I like the natural look) but I kinda wanna do something different this time. I'm thinking sand but will this be ok with guppies? From what I've been reading some fish are ok with sand and some...not so much. I'm planning on it being a planted tank too, just not sure exactly what plants yet.

I have sand and I had gravel, they don't seem to care either way!

Sand is much cleaner. Gravel will trap lots of debris which will cause water and health problems.

Guppies don't care. They like everything that doesn't eat them. Get some cories or khuli loaches for your sand, they'll love it!
