I was wondering if I should worry about the aptasia in my sump?

I would because they could possibly spread to you display

Nuke em' all! I have them starting to pop up again in my display. God I hate these things. I wish there were a way to eliminate them entirely in one fell swoop.

Me too, I have to order some more joes juice, I ran out a few weeks ago. They are popping up again. Its a never ending battle. When you think their gone, they show up in different spots several weeks later. Luckily none have been close to any coral

I have some aiptasia killer as well...but I'm reluctant to use it. Has anyone tried boiling water?

ive heard boiling water just damages it and any loose aiptasia pieces will just spawn new aiptasia

I inject them with vinegar with an insulin syringe.

The vinegar is a definite tried and true, I have used it multiple times on aiptasia, yellow polyps, Xenia I got annoyed with, killed them all.

Vinegar works so well because it changes the pH drastically in the immediate vicinity of the Aiptasia. Using a Kalk paste works just as well too. I recently took care of a rather large Aiptasia in my sump using a "Kalk" paste. I used 1/4 tsp of powder and 15 drops of FW (RO/DI if you have it) and it was gone in no time and hasn't been back.

I didn't change the pH around the, I injected it in them. They just melted.

Injecting a high kalk solution can work too. I just don't have kalk so I'm not going to buy it just to kill aptasias.

Fishguy, it does change the pH, it changes their internal pH. I don't have Kalk either, I use Pickling Lime.

I know it does. The way you worded it sounded like it just changes the pH around the aiptasis/mojano and that shocks it. But by injecting it into the animal you cause that acid to eat the tissue.

The pH change means you can't do too many at one time, it could alter the pH in the tank too much. I use a syringe and do no more than 1.0cc at a time (1ml).
